Samson Akinnire, Lagos - Nigeria
Samson Akinnire was born in Ajegunle Lagos, Nigeria.
Akinnire graduated top of his class in 2011 from Lagos
State Polytechnic where he was classically trained in the
Art of Fine Arts and Sculpture.
Largely an Experimental Artist, Akinnire works in
Assemblage, sourcing found materials that surround him
in his urban studio in Ajengunle and applying artifacts to
plywood and canvas. In addition to Abstract works he is
widely celebrated for his portraiture of beautiful men and
women using found trash and recyclables.
Akinnire has actively participated in several Exhibitions,
Auctions and Art Fairs globally and has most recently
been featured in The New York Times for his stunning
portraits in Lagos X Art Fair in 2018. This is Akinnire’s
second exhibition with Renate Albertsen-Marton Gallery,
following his premier solo show in 2018
